My name is Lisett Clark-Dziedzic. I'm a Chilean born Artist who has lived in the US since the age of 12.
Art has always been a way of expression for me ever since I could pick up a pencil.
Do to circumstances I had faced in my life I had to put Art aside for sometime, after 20 years I went back to school and received my Bachelors degree in Fine arts with a concentration in Photography from Mason Gross School for the Arts at Rutgers University. Since, I have been working as a professional photographer by day and working on my visual expression by night. I use image and transform it into fabric collage. This process and my life circumstances has allowed me to work on commission pieces where I work on fabric collage using passed love ones clothes to use as I would use paint to create a one of a kind memorial for the families. Not all my work consist of this that is one part of it. I also create pieces that strike me while walking around my neighborhood, what inspires me and spark my senses, and recreate them in fabric.
Fabric has a great importance in the human story, it transcends fashion, culture, age, sex, religion, expression, and message.
While in school I learned how to book bind and began making journals. I began using some fabric that I had since the 90's. People asked me where I had gotten them and so this let me to sell my handmade books. Librito was born. This evolved over time instead of using one fabric I used two and so it evolved again eventually making fabric collage.
Ever since moving back to New York I have been a member of the BWAC in Redhook Brooklyn where I have curated several shows as well have a place to show my work in the member shows as well as jury shows.
